It’s that time again…time for another Glam Bag review, that is! I just received my December bag this week and I am excited to share what was inside.
From left to right(ish):
NYX Butter Lip Balm in “Marshmallow”
Coolway Boost Repair Serum
Pixi Fairy Dust in “Brightening Bare”
Tarte “Lights, Camera, Lashes” Mascara
Precision Beauty Eyelash Curler
Let’s start with my favorite product which is the Coolway Repair Serum. This is the description from the Ipsy website about what this product is supposed to do:
“Boost Repair infuses moisture into your hair and locks it in with a unique blend of Silk Protein and Botanical extracts, providing silky-smooth, shiny, frizz-free hair that will hold for days. Clinically tested to reduce hair breakage by 75% and strengthen hair up to four times. ”
The directions say to use 2-3 teaspoons depending on your hair length, work it from your roots to your ends, and leave it on for 4 minutes. I would say I maybe used a teaspoon/teaspoon and a half because my hair is shorter. The smell is a little chemical-y, but I can deal with that in looking at the shine this product gave my hair.
Seriously, I used it yesterday and still can’t get over how shiny and smooth my hair is. All I did after I got out of the shower was work a tiny bit of my favorite Paul Mitchell serum into my ends, blow dried, and voila!…super shiny, manageable hair thanks to this stuff!
My second favorite product was the Precision Beauty Eyelash Curler. I’ve been in the market for a new eyelash curler because I think my Shu Uemura curler has seen better days. Now it might be because it’s purple (my favorite color) but I actually love this curler. I did not think I could even like another curler after being hooked on my Shu Uemura one. I was rather hesitant because usually most curlers pinch, but this one is extremely comfortable. I’m obsessed.
I have used the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara before. I got it in the “Best in Faux” lash set which included the Tarte Lash fibers, which I do not recommend using unless you want to be itching your eyes all day. I’m actually itching just thinking about them. Yikes! This mascara is nice, but not something I think I would purchase with all the other options out there.
Here’s a little before and after. Sorry about my red eyes, my allergies have been acting up like crazy these past couple days. I think this mascara lengthens more than anything, but I prefer a little more of a dramatic effect with my mascara. I’ve heard some rave reviews about Tarte’s Amazonian Clay mascara, has anyone tried it?
The final two products are the NYX Butter balm and the Pixi Fairy Dust. I like the NYX balm a lot, it smells nice and it also feels nice on. I also love the Butter gloss by NYX. Check it out if you’ve never used it! My only gripe is that I think this particular shade is slightly too sheer for me. You can barely see it on my hand, and on my lips it just kind of washes me out.
I feel the same about the Pixi Fairy Dust. Again, I can barely see it on my hand, and it is a little better on my eyelid, but I’m still undecided about what I would do with it. They must have been into the natural shades this month!
That wraps up this month’s Ipsy bag. On an unrelated note, I’m planning to do a review on this $8 gem I picked up at Wal-Mart yesterday. Seriously, sometimes Wal-Mart pleasantly surprises me!
Hope you all have a wonderful day. Merry (almost) Christmas!
