Kate Spade Inspired Glitter Earring DIY

I don’t know about you, but I have been seeing the Kate Spade glitter earrings everywhere lately. If you’re like me, you’re probably suffering from a great deal of remorse for missing the boat on these beauties before they became sold out and nearly impossible to find. For those of you that haven’t seen them before, here is what they look like…

But don’t fear, because last week I recreated my own version of these glitter studs with a few things I had handy, and it took me a matter of minutes.

Here’s what I used:

1.) For the glitter I used Nicole by OPI in “Rainbow in the Sky-lie.” This was part of the Kardashian line and I’m not sure that they make it anymore BUT Ulta has an almost identical glitter polish called “Pinata-Yada” you can find here.
2.) I used “Beachy” from the Revlon Parfumerie collection to turn my silver earrings gold. Bonus points that this polish smells heavenly. If you’ve never tried any of the Parfumerie collection, check it out!
3.) Although they aren’t square studs, I improvised with a pair of studs I never wore at all. You can really use whatever shape, size, or style you want.

I painted over the entire earring with the gold polish, because again, I wanted to give these earrings the gold look of the originals and I also wanted to give the glitter something to adhere to.

After I let this dry for a minute or two, I applied two coats of glitter to completely cover the stud (allow for a minute or two of drying time between coats of glitter as well). I finished with my favorite Super Duper Top Coat from Essie, and here is the finished product!

They may not be Kate Spade, but I love them just the same. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on them, so I figured I would share this quick, easy, and cheap DIY with you to recreate these earrings.

Have a lovely Tuesday!
