Lately I’ve been struggling with some over processed, dry, and brittle hair. I went very blonde over the summer, and now I’m paying the consequences. I recently went back to my darker roots because I don’t have to color my hair as much, but the blonde has been looking fried. What’s a girl to do? Turn to the Internet of course, and in my research I concocted an at home remedy for my hair!
What you’ll need:
1 small avocado (sorry, I don’t know why this one looks rough in this picture)
1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
The Omega-3 and fatty acids in the egg and avocado are supposed to be great for nourishing damaged hair as well as your scalp. Olive Oil also has many great conditioning properties for the hair (make sure to go for the Extra Virgin kind), so that’s why I went with these 3 ingredients. I combined all in a bowl and blended them with the mixer until I got a smooth whipped consistency. I read it’s important to use on a clean scalp so that there are no products clogging your pores to allow the ingredients can penetrate the scalp better. I clarified with my favorite Moroccan Oil Clarifying Shampoo (more on my love for Moroccan Oil products to come soon) and towel dried my hair so it was still damp.
I then applied the mask all over my hair from root to end- it looks so appetizing I know. I covered my hair with a shower cap and let it sit for a half hour before rinsing and letting my hair air dry. Try to stay away from heat where you can, because that also can lead to fried hair.
One day later, and I already noticed a difference in shine, and my ends do not look as fried as they did before applying the mask.
I’ve also been taking these multi-vitamins to help with the health of my hair and honestly, I have already noticed a difference in length. I feel like I’ve grown an extra inch or two of hair over the past two weeks that I’ve been taking them!
As I continue my quest to repair and strengthen my hair, I would love to hear any suggestions you may have tried that have worked for you!
