Weatherproofing Your Pretty Things

Let’s hear it for another weekend- Happy Friday beauties! So today I want to switch it up just a tiny bit, and talk about weatherproofing. Since the winter months are almost upon us, don’t worry I just cringed as much typing that, as you probably did reading that, I wanted to share my two favorite products for keeping all my favorite boots and leather goods protected from the snow, salt and moisture! There’s nothing worse than ruining a pair of your favorite boots during the winter, am I right?

The first is the Aldo Protect Water Resistant Lotion, and the second is the Aldo Protect Suede Protector. The lotion is amazing, I put it on all my boots and leather shoes to protect them from the moisture, and it’s also good for preventing those pesky salt stains that ruin your boots. Although it’s not a specified use of the product, I like to use it on my leather purses to protect them from stains and wear since our purses can be ruined by the elements just as easily as our shoes! Before doing this, I would definitely test a small spot to make sure it doesn’t leave a stain or do anything to the bag. Β It comes with a sponge tip applicator and has a consistency like Vaseline which makes for a super easy application.

You rub the product on the leather and then wipe it with a damp cloth (I use a clean paper towel) and then wipe it dry. The scent of this is also very nice, and doesn’t smell super chemical-ly like some shoe products do. I also love the Suede Protect spray to weatherproof anything I have that is a suede like material, because you DO NOT want to use the lotion on suede or any similar materials because it would stain it without a doubt.

I’ve been using these products for a while now to help protect my leather goods and extend the life of them even when the weather may otherwise be rough on them. I definitely recommend stocking up, your shoes and boots will thank you!
