Platinum Blonde Life

Anyone who currently has, or has had bright blonde locks knows it is a lot of upkeep. You have to make sure your hair stays nourished since the lightener or bleach can cause breakage and damage. So in today’s post, I’m detailing how I take care of my blonde hair to keep it looking vibrant and healthy.

Blonde hair has always been my signature, I can’t imagine being any other hair color. Well, I did try the brunette thing for a few months at one point in college, but then quickly changed it back, because I don’t feel like me with any other hair color. It’s funny because other people feel the same way…I guess I am truly meant to be a blonde! My blondeness even inspired my blogging moniker, Blonde Side Style, so I guess there really is no going back!

I’ve been coveting icy, platinum blonde locks for a while now. I’ve been highlighted, a little ombré, and all over blonde, but there is something about white blonde that I love. This was my inspiration for my most recent change!

Here is my before and after

I always like to keep a little root, because I don’t always have time to get the salon in the normal 5-6 week up keep period. In the meantime, here are the products I use to keep my blonde in tip top shape.

The first, and probably most important product to have on hand is purple shampoo.

I cannot stress this one enough. In case you wondered why this is a necessity, purple is opposite yellow on the color wheel, so this shampoo will cancel out any of those brassy tones us blondes suffer from. This L’anza Silver Brightening Shampoo is my lifeline. It is super concentrated, I use about a dime sized amount that I emulsify with water  and let it sit on my hair in the shower for about a minute. I have always liked that purple undertone to my blonde, and since this is so concentrated, it does the trick. See what works best for you before you let it sit on for too long!

Next, I combat breakage/damage with these two hair miracle workers.

The first is Olaplex No. 3, and the second is the Moroccanoil Repair Restorative Hair Mask. Olaplaex is hair magic. I cannot say enough about this product! It is meant to restore the broken bonds in your hair. You put it on, and let it sit for about ten minutes before you rinse it out and shampoo and condition as normal. I use it about once a week, and I always make sure to use it the day before I get my hair done.

Since I’ve been using this, I’ve noticed a lot less breakage in my hair. You can only buy this in a salon, so visit their website to find one that distributes it near you. I also love the Moroccanoil Repair mask. I use this about once a week also. If you’re using this product, make sure to shampoo and condition your hair after using it.

In addition, I usually only wash my hair once or twice a week. Washing everyday isn’t good, especially when my hair is already dry. I have been loving the Moroccanoil Light Tone Dry Shampoo.

For styling, I only put the Moroccanoil Treatment Light in my hair.Make sure you buy the light version especially if you’re a blonde! Can you tell I love Moroccanoil? I can’t actually say enough how much I love their products, I’m a complete convert to their line.

I also sleep on a silk pillowcase to reduce breakage and take lots of vitamins for hair health. I love the Hair Skin Nails from IT Works!

So there you have it. These are my go to products to help me stay on the Blonde Side…get it? 😉

Have you tried any of these products? What are your go to products for keeping your blonde hair fresh and brand new or keeping your hair healthy in general?
