Monday Favorites: Kylie Lip Kits

It’s finally time to discuss all things Kylie Lip Kits. This is a lengthy post today- but I wanted to make sure that you got all the nitty gritty deets before you purchased one for yourself. So here we go beauties, it’s my Blonde Side review of the Kylie Lip Kits.

In total I purchased 7, yes 7,  during her restock at the end of April. If you are buying the kits when she is restocking, you have to be prepared. It is stressful process since everyone knows how quickly they sell out. I got 3 for my friends who wanted them, and I got the 4 colors I’ve been coveting for myself. Each kit comes with a lipliner, and a liquid lipstick. From left to right I purchased Dolce K, Koko K, Posie K and Candy K, which I will detail individually below.

1. Dolce K

Thoughts: Dolce K was the one I wanted the most, and to be honest, from the website I was not expecting it to be so brown. I thought it would look more like Candy K does, which I will picture later. I still like it, but just be advised that the color is more brown than it appears on the website. In my mind, I think I was also picturing a color more similar to the Kat Von D Lolita liquid lipstick (one of my all time faves). Either way, I’ll still wear it, just not as much as the others.

2. Koko K

Expectation

Thoughts: Koko K wasn’t a color I originally planned on ordering. I was reading some articles about dupes for the lip kit colors and I loved all the ones they had for Koko K. One is the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Color in Nude Thrill, which I’ve posted about on Insta. So if you can’t get your hands on a Koko K Lip Kit, this will do the trick. It’s not as matte as the Lip Kits, but it’s still a nice formula. Oh, and spoiler alert, Koko K is definitely my favorite.

3. Posie K

Expectation

Thoughts: I went into my Lip Kit haul and wanted Dolce K and Posie K the most. Posie K was definitely all I wanted it to be and more. It has a gorgeous pinky/purple hue, and it’s honestly so flattering. I also picked up Posie K for the Blonde Side Best too, and she approves!

4. Candy K

Expectation

Thoughts: Like Koko K, I wasn’t originally planning on getting Candy K either. As I mentioned before, I thought Candy K was going to look more like Dolce K does because it looks more brown to me on the website. I am glad I got Candy K though because it’s a great everyday lip color. I probably have worn this one the most because it goes with everything!

Overall verdict: I like the Kylie Lip kits a lot. My favorites by far have to be Koko K and Candy K, although Posie K is also a strong contender. I wish I could’ve tried on Dolce K before purchase because I don’t know if I would have ended up buying it in the end. Brown isn’t a color I would usually go for. It depends on your skin tone, I got this one for the Blonde Side Best and it looks rocking on her. They seriously last for so long as well. If I apply it in the morning before work,it lasts all day. I might have to do a small touch up  if I’m doing something at night, but for the most part you don’t have to worry about these babies budging!

At $29.00, they aren’t cheap, but you get a liner and a liquid lipstick so in my opinion, it’s not that bad. A lot of good liquid lipsticks by themselves are about $20. Although if you aren’t looking to spend that much, many bloggers are saying the Colourpop Cosmetics Matte liquid lipsticks are almost identical…and $6. I actually had no idea the Colourpop ones were such a steal, and now I want to try some for myself as I’ve heard rave reviews about them.

As a final note, I’ve heard the Lip Kits were drying on some people. I’ve noticed my lips being slightly dryer than usual. I don’t know if it’s from the weather constantly going from warm to cold here in NY, or the product itself, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

Phew! I think that sums up all my thoughts on the Lip Kits. Thanks for sticking with me through this one. Have you tried any of the Lip Kits? What do you think? I would love to share any more details if I haven’t covered it in this post. Just leave a comment below, and have a Happy Monday!
