On today’s edition of my Monday Favorites, I wanted to take a moment to discuss a skin issue I have been dealing with and a few products I’ve found on whim that have helped to clear up that issue almost instantly as I started using them. I figured this post could be helpful for anyone else dealing with it too because I spent hours Googling and reading things on how to get rid of it. The problem I’m talking about is those pesky little flesh colored facial bumps like these…

Like the picture above, I found them most cropping up on my forehead, but I also sometimes get them on my cheek area. They’re not exactly zits, because they don’t get red, but they’re just as annoying and noticeable with or without makeup. I saw a number of different solutions people offered, but after not liking the idea of washing my face with Dandruff shampoo (yes, seriously), I decided to take matters into my own hands.
First, I decided to get a little bit more of a better exfoliant for that area, especially because the bumps were rough. I chose to get this Beauty 360 Walnut Exfoliating Sponge which I found at CVS.
The texture is a little harsh, so use this gently on your skin so you do not irritate it.
The next product on my list was this Shea Moisture African Black Soap. I chose this because I’ve actually heard amazing things about it from people with acne prone skin.
Bar soap isn’t my favorite, because I hate using a bar, leaving it to sit and then reusing it. So as soon as I got home, I did as I’ve been doing with my Lush Soaps and cut it into smaller square chunks. Definitely a good solution and way less wasteful and messy. I wet this and use it with the walnut sponge above and lightly rub it over the affected areas. I rinse, and then continue to wash the rest of my face as usual.
Lastly, the one product that always comes up when researching these skin bumps is BHA. The most popular choice seems to be this Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid.
I use this after washing my face, but before I apply moisturizer or any other topical product to my skin. To be honest, it stings a little (especially after exfoliating) so I usually let my skin chill out for a second after washing and putting this one.
Lastly, I top my skin off with some moisturizer. My current favorite would have to be this one that’s matte, lightweight and contains SPF.
I have to say I really do think the combination of the sponge, the soap and this liquid exfoliant has made a huge difference. Within a week, my forehead cleared up significantly and is almost bump free!
Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products, and if you do try this regime, check back and let me know if it works for you.
