Social media is a blessing and a curse all at the same time especially when it comes to beauty. There are so many products that get so hyped up over Instagram, which leave you sometimes wondering, is this product actually worth the purchase? I’m listing some of the products I’ve tried that I’ve been seeing everywhere, and I mean everywhere to help you figure out if it’s worth the splurge or if you need to save your money!
Spoiler alert if you haven’t read Monday’s Foundation Faves or Flops post, the Tarte Shape Tape Foundation falls nowhere near that latter category. Make sure to check out that post for all my thoughts on this magical (and totally Instagram hyped) product.
Verdict: Spend
This limited edition hyped product is so popular at the moment, it’s expected to be completely sold out by April. In my head, I was like, I don’t need another highlighter. One swatch of this had me sold, however. It’s shimmery, pigmented, gold perfection.
Verdict: Spend
Side note, I know another very hyped ABH product at the moment is the Soft Glam Palette. I haven’t purchased this one specifically, but if you are looking for an eyeshadow palette, ABH ones are definitely worth the splurge.
Olay Luminous Whip Moisturizer
I have been seeing these babies every day on my feed. This is the Luminous Whip, but it also comes in a Regenerist and Total Effects formulations. To be honest, what caught my attention was the whip consistency. I’m really living for products with that specific texture these days. When I saw these at the store, I figured I would give one a shot because I was running out of moisturizer. I finally decided on the Luminous formulation (with SPF) because it promises a matte finish, and says its good for wear under makeup or alone.
This stuff really has been as good as it sounds. My skin has been soft and smooth, and I swear to you, I really think it has helped to clear it up too. For almost $30, this moisturizer will set you back as much as some of the higher end skin care brands you find in Sephora, but I’m seriously here for the Olay Whips.
Verdict: Spend
This lip mask is worth every penny. It will make your lips soft, smooth, plump and everything you could ever imagine. The texture feels so good when you apply it, and I love the subtle berry scent. Shoutout to the person who told me this was great for cuticles too! You’re the real MVP.
Verdict: Spend
I do love this when I need some extra hydration, but honestly, I discovered the Bliss line at Target has a similar Watermelon Sleeping Mask for 12.99. In keeping it real with you all, I would save your pennies and go this route. Bliss has never disappointed me. I’m obsessed with their Mighty Marshmallow Mask (which also has the best whipped texture). I love the Watermelon Glow, but not enough to want to try a more affordable alternative product seeing as it isn’t a necessity.
Verdict: Save
Dominique Cosmetics Latte Palette
What I told myself about the highlighter was also what I told myself about eyeshadow palettes, but somehow I ended up with the Latte Palette added into my collection. Not to rationalize, but this is way more than just an eyeshadow palette. You can use the shades for a highlight and contour too.
Also, Dominique Cosmetics shouted out my post from my new beauty page on their IG page and I quite nearly died. Please make sure to follow @thebeautybreak for everything beauty from me. I also promise a full review and look using this palette coming very soon.
Verdict: Spend
I went to Ulta and they were out of my HG mascara (also sold out online, I’m having a crisis). In desperation, I picked up the Total Temptation Mascara because of all the hype it’s been getting, obvi.
So ehhh, this is one hyped mascara I’m not in love with. It doesn’t give me enough volume, and I was promised a coconut scent and coconut is not what I’m getting. In all fairness, I love the Brow Definer and the Eyeshadow and Highlight Palette (which is less than $10) from this line. The mascara just fell a little short for me, and I was seriously so bummed.
Verdict: Save
So to sum this post up, I know there are a lot more hyped up beauty products out there right now, but these are some of the ones I can give my honest feedback on. If you’ve tried any others that are worth it (or not), please share with me. I’d love to know your thoughts!

Thanks love! I appreciate the kind words, and you taking the time to read the post. Highlights can be tricky, I know there are some mixed reviews on this one- I think it definitely just depends on preference!
